HUMAN Trafficking – What was in it for the GUERTIN at end of day?

Human Trafficking:

When most of us think of Human Trafficking, we assume the victim knows he/she is  owned/enslaved (trapped) by the enslaving party.  They live in dire oppressive life conditions.  For instance, ownership, prostitution, pedophile rings, sexual abuse, forced labour,  etc.

In Mark Smith case, at 13, he was sold to Guertin without his knowledge and it remains so into premeditated death at 53.  The ownership did not require to hold with a “proverbial leash”.  More an invisible leash – you don’t know you’re owned – something is riding on your head with a time to live on your life clock watch.

IT WAS MOST LIKELY SOMETHING FINANCIAL AND ILLEGAL RUNNING UNDER THE LAVERGNE PORTFOLIO. 

This human trafficking case was a means to use his name – it was most likely secured in 1992 when she acquired Power of Attorney over his life.  From that point forward, they kept him under their watchful eye and control.  Each time he succeeded to detach from them, his life was in danger.

HOW DID HE MEET HER?  Mark never realized it was organized.

They made it seem they met by chance – Mark, 13 and Michelle, 25. 

In Feb/Mar 1979, a young attractive woman (25)  showed interest (flirting, setting up a time to meet) – he bit hard. At the time, Mark (13) lived from couch to couch –> In Fall 1978, his mother and step-father locked him out of the house with his clothes in a garbage bag.  Someone who looked decent not from the street was paying attention to him – he bit hard.

They had sex, a virgin, and few weeks later she announced she was pregnant.

The pedophilia was a means to set up the Father-Child Cover.  The point of contact was Old man Lavergne (future Estate).  Mark’s mother Theresa and step-family LAVERGNE went along for different motives clueless of Old man Lavergne’s real motives. They got paid in cash.

For first two years, Mark was under the influence of Michelle Guertin – although they didn’t live together, he took part in baby tasks – She brought him to formal gatherings – Bought his clothes and told him how to act – They went two weeks in France to visit her parents and brothers – he described it as a chateau with winery.  Mark was going to school and people at school knew he had a child with an older woman – Michelle would frequently show up at school gates waiting for him – sometimes the baby in a carriage.

In 1981, she moved to Toronto and he didn’t follow her – she tried to persuade him.  He had the impression he was breaking up with her.  In his mind, he didn’t follow because he wasn’t interested in her.  Too close to the age of his mother who was only 2 years older than Michelle.  By then he was 16.

WHY SET UP A FATHER-SON COVER  for the family it was the excuse to get him out of their lives after all they had locked him out of the house in Fall 1978 shortly after turning 13.
